FAITH MILESTONES

“You must love God with all your heart, soul, and might. And you must think constantly about these commandments I am giving you today. You must teach them to your children and talk about them when you are at home or out for a walk; at bedtime and the first thing in the morning. Tie them on your finger, wear them on your forehead, and write them on the doorposts of your house!”
(Deuteronomy 6: 5-9)

Faith is a life-long journey from first to final breath…

SACRAMENTS

We are a church whose unity is in Jesus Christ, who gathers us around word and earthly elements: water, wine and bread.

In our community we practice two faith milestones we call sacraments, holy commands from God where God’s word and promises are mixed with earthly elements. These are sacred and holy moments in one’s faith journey.

  • Baptism is a significant part of our faith journey as we come from the baptismal waters to live a new life as children of God.

Our baptism is characterized by our relationship to God, our relationship to our faith community, our relationships in our community and the wider world. Living our baptismal promises means living a life of growth in the faith practices of discipleship.

The first step in preparing for a baptism for infants, older children, or for adults who have not yet been baptized in the Christian faith is to contact Pastor Jen Collins. She will then schedule a date to meet before your baptism date.

  • All are welcome to The Table regardless of age.

In our faith community we acknowledge even young children are capable of understanding what it means to be part of a family and share a meal together. We teach all ages that Holy Communion is from God and it is something that we receive together.

The body and blood of Christ “for you” includes anyone with a willing and open heart ready to receive. We trust that as people grow in years, our understanding of the mysterious gift of the sacrament of Communion will grow with us. This gift of forgiveness, new life, and salvation is one that we want to give out as liberally as we can, and that all are welcome at the table.

We do offer educational opportunities to learn more about this sacrament. This will be offered twice a year in the fall and spring. Maundy Thursday Service during Holy Week is when a special celebration and recognition is made. To learn more anytime contact Pastor Jen.

We are striving to grow this ministry, stay tuned for more opportunities to affirm who
God has made us to be, BELOVEDS!

LIFE MILESTONES

Milestones recognize God’s presence in life’s moments that happen throughout a lifetime. At Redeemer, we want to celebrate these moments with all the generations in everyday life.

These Milestone Moments might be celebrated within worship as we honor, celebrate and bless those celebrating any of the following:

  • Receiving a Bible is an important step in knowing God and grow faith. There will be access to different bibles of various reading levels.

  • As one grows in faith, “confirmation” — or affirmation of baptism — is part of a person’s baptismal journey when that individual takes ownership of their faith, proclaiming and celebrating with the community what God is doing in their life. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in the faith community. Any baptized youth who has actively participated in learning and growing their faith can choose to be confirmed when they are ready.

  • These indeed are lifted up and celebrated in song, prayer and blessings throughout the year.

  • If you are planning to get married, learn more here and talk with Pastor Jen.

I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

(Matt. 28:20)
