Every Sunday in Lent we will explore how Jesus lived in his body on earth and invites us to take care of —and embrace the goodness of—our own bodies. Each week our Gospel will highlight a different story from Jesus’ life and connect it to shared human experiences—like growing up, taking naps, or drinking water. By engaging with these stories through a broad lens of embodiment, This is My Body seeks to inspire curiosity, wonder, and awe in all ages. Lent devotionals are available for families as a downloadable resource, and printed copies will be available upon request.
We are utilizing resources from Illustrated Ministry, which are written for all ages. We believe you’ll find appropriate questions and discussion topics in each devotional for your children and yourself no matter the age. At the same time, feel free to tweak content and questions to work for your family. You don’t need to do all the activities for it to be a meaningful experience. Take a look at the devotionals, see what you think will work best for your family’s schedule, and find time each week to gather together.

Here, too, is the sweeping epic of immigrants and refugees in Scripture.

The First Communion Food & Faith Learning event will be hosted on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 6:30 pm at Christ the River of Life. Talk to Pastor Jen to get your names on our First Communion prayers for Maundy Thursday.

This is a Celebration of Communion for those who are receiving for the first time and/or those who already receive and would like to learn more about this sacred meal. During our Lenten Wednesday time we will explore through tangible ways a renewed understanding of why we come to the table and what it means. Join to taste and see and maybe even bake as we prepare to come to Jesus’ table.

During our
Maundy Thursday Service, April 6th at 7pm (following our 6pm meal) at Salem Lutheran Church, we will receive communion and mark this faith milestone in our journey, welcoming the children of God to share in Holy Communion is part of our Baptismal promise!

We acknowledge young children are capable of understanding what it means to be part of a family and share a meal together. We teach children that Holy Communion (Lord’s Supper, Eucharist) is from God and it is something that we receive together. The body and blood of Christ “for you” includes all who come to the table. We trust that as children grow in years, their understanding of the mysterious gift of the sacrament of Holy Communion will grow with them, through their elementary, tween, teen, and into adulthood. This gift of forgiveness, new life, and salvation is one that we want to give out as liberally as we can, and that all are welcome at the table. Children of all ages are welcome at the Table!

Sundays in Lent |This is My Body
Every Sunday in Lent we will explore how Jesus lived in his body on earth and invites us to take care of —and embrace the goodness of—our own bodies. Each week our Gospel will highlight a different story from Jesus’ life and connect it to shared human experiences—like growing up, taking naps, or drinking water. By engaging with these stories through a broad lens of embodiment, This is My Body seeks to inspire curiosity, wonder, and awe in all ages.
Lent devotionals will be available for families as a downloadable resource, and printed copies will be available upon request.

>> Dates & Times TBD - Sign up with your preferred date/time by 2/19/23

Meet people who have fled their homelands. Hagar. Joseph. Ruth. Jesus. Here is a riveting story of seeking safety in another land. Here is a gripping journey of loss, alienation, and belonging. In The God Who Sees, immigration advocate Karen Gonzalez recounts her family’s migration from the instability of Guatemala to making a new life in Los Angeles and the suburbs of south Florida. In the midst of language barriers, cultural misunderstandings, and the tremendous pressure to assimilate, Gonzalez encounters Christ through a campus ministry program and begins to follow him. Here, too, is the sweeping epic of immigrants and refugees in Scripture.

Books will be available for free via Thrivent grant to the first 13 readers who need assistance purchasing their copies (Audiobooks are free)

First Communion - Food & Faith Learning
Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 6:30 pm at Christ the River of Life

Talk to Pastor Jen to get your names on our First Communion prayers for Maundy Thursday.

Celebration of communion for those who are receiving for the first time or those who already receive are invited to learn more about this sacred meal. During our Lenten Wednesday time we will explore through tangible ways a renewed understanding of why we come to the table and what it means. Join to taste and see and maybe even bake as we prepare to come to Jesus’ table. During our Maundy Thursday Service, April 6th at 7:00 pm (6:00 pm dinner offered before) at Salem Lutheran Church we will receive communion and mark this faith milestone in our journey. Welcoming the children of God to share in Holy Communion is part of our Baptismal promise!

Interfaith Legislation Hearings & Rallies
Democracy Day at Capitol | January 17, 9:30am
(We Choose Us Campaign action)

Hello Redeemer family, it’s Mannie ( They/He ) -- you might have seen me around! I’m a community organizer with ISAIAH/ FAITH IN MN under the Barbershop and Black Congregation Cooperative. Right now we are working to create some huge change within Minnesota and especially in Minneapolis. We are working to bring legislation around rent stabilization to create equitable forms of living, and on building an equitable multiracial/multicultural democracy by fighting to pass the Restore the Vote bill to allow those who have finished time in prison to rejoin community and participate in democracy through the right to vote. These are huge opportunities to see change in our communities, especially for some of us who come from marginalized communities.

I am looking for people who are intrigued and eager to get involved to come with me and create noise around these issues. If you are someone close to you who has been affected by unfair living or is victim of the justice system, let me know and register to join me in this fight.

Thank you so much!

Welcome Leon Dixon, Jr.
Meet & Greet with RCFL Executive Director January 22, 2023

Come meet, greet, welcome, and bless Leon
at Redeemer during worship and in a fellowship celebration to follow, and
stay tuned for opportunities to meet him and welcome Leon to the neighborhood.

This is another monumental transition in our partnering organization Redeemer Center for Life. Pastor Jen Collins has been actively involved in the process to hire the new executive director. She has been a part of the interviews, continued prayerful conversations with RCFL board members as they made the decision to offer Leon Dixon Jr. the position to join us.
Pastor Jen has met with Leon and has said, “There is a good energy and synergy here, I am hopeful for what can and will happen. God is good and will work through us to do good work for this community as we strive to be a beacon of hope. I look forward to welcoming and working alongside Leon.”
