"The Night is Long but Light Comes in the Morning"
-Dr. Cathering Meeks

Grace and Peace to you!
Have you noticed the changes within nature? Our surroundings are preparing for a shift in seasons. Some of creation, like the squirrels and birds are finding ways to be nourished. Stocking up for what is needed to hold them over and get them through the winter months ahead. Some of creation, like the flowers and trees are preparing themselves to rest. The changing leaves and letting go of what isn't necessary for the long slumber until spring arrives once again.

I know I have also sensed the changing season, in some ways I think its gets so chaotic and energetic with bustling movement, I forget...well, neglect the wisdom of creation in this time. To pause, breathe and wonder what do I need to be nourished? What do I need to let go of in order to make space for what is truly needed?

I wonder about this for our Redeemer community. We are in a changing season that feels like a whirlwind of chaos in good and unsure ways. We are in new places we've never been before. We are sorting through so much internally and collectively. May we look to the wisdom of our Creator:

"For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace."
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 New Living Translation)

God through Jesus modeled for us the effective and powerful Way of Love in Action that is grounded with God. So that, we are able to emerge ready...to heal, to be nourished, to let go, to move forward together. May we find ourselves in time.
Peace & Blessings,
Pastor Jen Collins (she/her)

COMMUNITY HEALTH UPDATE:
Reminders as we seek to care for the most vulnerable in our communities.

The new Covid variant is circulating and appears to be more infectious (but not more serious) than those previous (like influenza which changes each year and needs a new vaccine). The symptoms are the same and may appear within a couple of days from the time of exposure. However, it can take up to 10 days to show up. The other difference is that the Covid antigen (over the counter) tests may not turn positive for a few days even in those that are symptomatic. If you get Covid, ask your provider about Paxlovid which reduces the severity and length of illness and risk for long Covid.

For our community well-being:
  • To minimize your risk of infection, use masks around those with Covid (cold) symptoms.
  • To minimize spreading Covid to others, mask in public for 10 days after an unprotected/unmasked exposure to Covid - since Covid is transmissible up to 2 days before you have symptoms or a positive test.
  •  If you get Covid:
    • isolate at home until symptoms are improving, are without fever (off medications that bring fever down) and test negative for Covid.
    • mask in public until 10 days from the onset of symptoms or the positive Covid test (which ever is first - though the day count starts over for those asymptomatic with a positive test if they then develop symptoms)
STAFF UPDATE
Redeemer has said farwell to both our Administrative Staff. We ask that people extend patience and understanding during this transitional staff time. The Human Resource (HR) team is working with Pastor Jen to find volunteers to maintain communication and connection during the daytime hours as we discern our next step for staffing needs. If you are interested and available to help please contact Mary Britt or Pastor Jen. If you have computer/technical skills, specifically with video editing (Cap Cut/ YouTube), social media and digital communication (Mailchimp) please reach out.
