LEADING WITH LOVE OCTOBER FORUM ft. Dr. Robin Bell and Amy Koopman, October 13th // Over the past few months, the MInneapolis Area Synod has hosted a number of Leading with Love forums to address and discuss the Minneapolis uprising and unrest, unhoused encampments, state violence, political division, and the ongoing public health crisis. The trauma of this year is unavoidable and all-encompassing. But these crises are not unprecedented for the people of God. We read of the prophets, who spoke truth and called their communities into service of the vision of the world as it could be. October 13th’s forum is titled Answering the Call: Leading with Love Now, in the Time of the Prophets and will feature Redeemer’s Dr Robin Bell (minister of racial justice & equity) and seminarian Amy Koopman along with other synod leaders reflecting on reading the prophets in 2020 and who they look to as modern-day prophets. Register today to join us via zoom from 9:30-11am on Tuesday, October 13th.

19th Sunday after Pentecost | Readings & Gospel:
Isaiah 25:1-9, Psalm 23, Philippians 4:1-9 & Matthew 22:1-14
With confidence in God’s grace and mercy, let us pray for the church, the world, and all those in need…

We pray for bishops, teachers, church leaders, the Redeemer Lutheran Call Committee and all children of God as they share the joyous hospitality of inviting others to your table of boundless grace. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious host, protect all you have created especially any creatures endangered and mistreated longing for your redemption. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious host, as you set a table in the presence of enemies, so bless the efforts of diplomats, international peace workers, and world leaders who navigate conflict by proceeding with dialogue and understanding, so that justice and peace prevails in Armenia-Azerbaijan, Israel, Ireland, United Kingdom, and  the United States. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious host, when we are quick to judge outward appearance, remind us how you clothe all in your mercy. We pray for ministries that provide needed clothing and other personal care assistance in this community Zion Baptist, Masjid al Furqaan Mosque, and Metropolitan Community Church of Christ.  Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious host, let your gentleness be known among those who are weary or ill , Cindy, Linda,  Shoonie, Edina Community Lutheran Church and the family of Pastor Sartain receiving surgery,  our local and global siblings living with COVID-19 and quarantines, for the first responders, disaster volunteers, Marylou, Ione, and Sarah,  with Bill and all receiving hospice. Strengthen doctors, medical care workers, and caretakers who see to their and others’ needs  . . . Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Gracious host, we remember Francis of Assisi who lived calling pets and animals his siblings. Comfort us with your presence. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Listen as we call on you, O God, and enfold in your loving arms all for whom we pray, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
