VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE on September 1st, 4-7pm // Join us on Tuesday, September 1st in Redeemer’s backyard for a voter registration drive hosted by Planned Parenthood!
PARKED BIKE and CAR WORSHIP: Sunday, September 6th at 9:30am // You’re invited to join us Sunday September 6th at 9:30am at Redeemer for parked bike and car worship! We look forward to your prayerful presence with your household in your car. Bring a chair to sit in the backyard only if you are walking; otherwise please plan to stay in your car or on/near your bike. Masks will be required
if exiting your car or dismounting from your bike. Everyone outside of all vehicles must wear masks and keep 6 feet of physical distance. When arriving, you will receive a pre-filled Holy Communion package which we will consume after sharing the Lord’s Prayer. With gratitude for you and yours, you may give your offering to ushers as you receive from them your prefilled Holy Communion package. All singing, praying, and worship actions, will be from our cars or in assigned spaces with masks. For information on what to expect at worship, check out the video above from Lonna and Pastor Babette. If you plan to come, please RSVP here so we know who and how many to expect!

CAPTIONS NOW AVAILABLE on REDEEMER VIDEOS // We’ve heard your comments and concerns about the volume on our worship recordings, and we’re excited to announce that all videos going forward will have closed captioning available on YouTube (for example -- check out this video from Lonna and Babette and make sure to click the “cc” button on the bottom of your youtube screen). In addition to making sure captions are available on all new recordings beginning with this weekend’s worship, we will also work to add captions to all previous video recordings in the coming weeks!

SUNDAY MORNING and WEDNESDAY EVENING ZOOM MEET-UPS // In addition to our ongoing Sunday morning zoom fellowship at 9:30am, we will begin hosting a weekly Wednesday evening zoom from 7-8pm in September, when we will dig into and discuss each of the five chapters of First Peter. There is a posted recording by Pastor Kelly on each chapter. The existing recordings (available online) by Pastor Kelly were shaped by perceiving the rebellion, uprising and social unrest in Minneapolis. Through this bible study, we will examine how are we perceiving ourselves as agents of hope with the book of First Peter.

REDEEMER RACIAL JUSTICE & EQUITY MEETINGS // Redeemer’s Racial Justice & Equity group (formerly referred to as Seeing White) continues to meet every-other Thursday to discuss current events and our sustained efforts toward racial equity, along with The Racial Healing Handbook. If you’d like join us on September 3rd or 17th from 6:30-8pm, please contact Amy in the church office!

REDEEMER COMMUNITY GARDEN EVENTS  // Summertime is busy in Redeemer garden! Along with our weekly garden work days from 1-4pm and free veggie distribution from 2-4pm every Sunday afternoon, we’d love for you to join us at our upcoming socially-distanced & masked events! For more information, contact our garden coordinator Greta.
This Sunday, August 31th, 4:30-6pm: Fermenting Veggies for Winter Storage
Sunday, September 20th, 4:30-7:30pm: Pizza Party & Drum Circle

RCFL 2020 GALA: RSVP TODAY! // The 2020 RCFL Gala: Rooted in Community is just weeks away, on Saturday, September 12th at 7:00p, and we are so excited to have our Redeemer family be part of this night! RSVP today to show your support and ensure you won’t miss the event! Please connect with Mali for any related questions. We look forward to seeing you!

HEALTH COMMONS at the LIVING ROOM currently offers Zumba each weeknight at 6pm in Redeemer’s backyard, Book Club Discussions on the first Tuesdays of the month from 1-3pm in the backyard, and Health Q & A's online or in-person -- all with social distance and masking. Follow them on Facebook to get current schedules, events, and other resources: Health Commons at the Living Room.

North Porch Project // Leila, one of the Center for Leadership and Neighborhood Engagement (CLNE) and RCFL’s summer interns, has developed the North Porch Project to depict North Minneapolis neighbors at their homes and share their stories and what sparks hope in this moment in history. Families are asked to pose on their porches (or at home) in a way that genuinely portrays their life. The purpose of North Porch is to give North Minneapolis a face and create a sense of familiarity to the non-suburban communities; to show how real people are living and connecting right now. If interested please contact Leila Rocha Fisher.

VOLUNTEER at REDEEMER // In light of the May 25th murder of George Floyd, Siri Fiebiger (Redeemer Church Council President) and Mali Jensen (RCFL Director of Volunteers & Partnerships) are working together for Redeemer to help meet community needs! If interested in becoming part of Redeemer’s team of volunteers who receive ongoing calls to action (e.g. Holy Trinity, church cleaning, donation supply management, voter registration, etc), please contact Siri or Mali.

MENTAL HEALTH CONNECT is a local non-profit based out of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis offering free, non-biased support for anyone seeking mental health resources. Visit MHC’s website to learn more or contact Mali, Redeemer's MHC ambassador.

13th Sunday after Pentecost | Readings and Gospel:
Jeremiah 15:15-21 | Psalm 26:1-8 | Romans 12:9-21 | Matthew 16:21-28
Intercessor: Confident of your care and helped by the Holy Spirit, we pray for the church, the world, and all who are in need…

God of faithfulness, you bid your people to follow Jesus. Set the mind of your church on divine things. Grant us trust in you as we prepare to call a pastor that we with our new leader lose our lives for the sake of Christ and thereby discover joy in life through him. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of wonder, the earth is yours and all that is in it. Heal your creation and give us eyes to see the world as you do. As the seasons change, pattern the rhythm of our lives in harmony with all creation especially for Sarah and Nathan who are beginning their faith journey as the newly married. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of all nations, you call us to live peaceably with all. Give us ears to hear one another, even those we name as enemies. Fill all leaders with mercy and understanding, that they advocate and genuinely care for those who are poor and most vulnerable in their communities. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

God of salvation, you promise to deliver us. Give those who suffer a strong sense of your presence and love. Accompany those who are uncertain, raise the spirits of those who are despairing, and heal all those in need, including Claudia, Mark, MarySue,  Mary Lou, Shoonie, the residents of Chicago, Kenosha, Houston, our own city of Minneapolis and the states of California and Louisiana, the global nations living with COVID-19 and quarantines four our front-line, first-responder, retail and delivery persons. Be with all whom we hold in our hearts  . . . Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Intercessor: In the certain hope that nothing can separate us from your love, we offer these prayers to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
