REDEEMER Church Announcements:
Help Us Out at the 16th Annual Redeemer Block Party! // Redeemer’s 16th Annual Block Party is NEXT WEDNESDAY, August 15th from 6-8pm and WE NEED YOUR HELP! We need lots of food items donated and have plenty of volunteer positions needing to be filled, including a pre-party Dough Making Team! Sign-up online here or on the sign-up sheet at the back of the sanctuary on Sunday. We’re excited for this year’s Block Party, and hope to see all of you there -- along with your friends and neighbors! Bring the Kids to Northside Youth Association’s Harrison Hang Outs! // Northside Youth Association’s Harrison Hang-Outs at The Living Room are in full swing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12:30pm and Saturdays from 10am - 2pm! Redeemer's youth staff are hosting food, fun, and games -- lunch is provided each Saturday. Kids of all ages are welcome! For more information, contact youth@redeemermpls.org! Vacation Bible School 2018 // Sunday school is out for the summer - but don’t despair! Next Sunday, August 19th, is our final VBS Sunday of fun games, stories, crafts and activities for young people! Annual Fishing with Faith, August 18th //Mark your calendars and save the date -- August 18th -- for Redeemer’s annual Fishing with Faith fishing excursion with Faith Lutheran Church in Waconia! We will plan to meet at the Lake Waconia Beach between 8:30 - 9am on Saturday, August 18th. We will have a few parking passes for those who drive. We will have some doughnuts and juice for breakfast along with some snacks and water to take on the boat. We will meet at the picnic shelter near the beach, we have it reserved for the day. There is a playground and restrooms nearby. Once everyone is at the beach we will get everyone on a boat. If anyone needs a fishing license we will have the boat drivers take them to the marina in town. We will plan on fishing until around noon. At noon the boats will return to the beach where we will grill burgers and hot dogs. If you have any questions, would like more information, or want to sign-up for this year’s event, contact Amy in the church office or email Rufus Campbell at campbell.rufus@gmail.com! Sunday Morning Bible Study: SEEING WHITE - Coming September 9th // Beginning on Sunday, September 9th (Rally Sunday), Redeemer will host an adult bible study & discussion time at 9am at The Living Room as we work through the 14-episode podcast series, “Seeing White.” The podcast dives deep in the social, cultural, and political foundations of white supremacy and how it plays out on the national scale and in everyday microaggressions toward Indigenous and people of color. We are seeking volunteer facilitators to co-lead 3 to 4 weeks each, who will meet prior to the start of the series for a brief training on The Circle Way. We invite everyone to participate, but ask that everyone who does so agrees to be present as often as possible and to stay up-to-date on the podcast regardless. Childcare and snacks will be provided. More information is available on the website at www.redeemermpls.org/seeing-white and in the August Faith Matters newsletter. If you’d like to know more or are interested in facilitating, please contact Siri Fiebiger (sirifiebiger@gmail.com) or Amy in the church office.
