REDEEMER Church Announcements:
Register for Holy Hoops Basketball Team by This Sunday, Dec 31st // Redeemer is recruiting a team for Augsburg University's Holy Hoops church basketball league! The team is open to young women and men, 9th-12th grade, who are not playing on their school's basketball team. Games are played on Sunday afternoons beginning on January 21st and ending with a one-day tournament at Augsburg on April 8th. Registration is open through Dec 31st. Visit www.holyhoops.weebly.com for more info, and contact Vicar Matt (vicar@redeemermpls.org) to register for Redeemer's team. “Why Church?” Adult Bible Study begins Wednesday January 10th // Have you ever wondered why we do things we do in church? Why do we use the word "catholic" in our Creed that we recite every Sunday? Why are there three different Scriptures read every week (and how are they chosen)? Why do ministers wear a gown (known as an "alb") during church service? Why do the colors change in the sanctuary? Together, we'll take a fresh and interactive look at these "whys" (and so many more!) in the church! We will explore why we do what we do as a church, as Christians, and as Lutherans. Got a "why" question? Bring it along! We will discover the answers together every Wednesday night, beginning January 10th. Put it on your calendar! And bring the kiddos - dinner and childcare are available! MLK Sunday Potluck Celebration & Program on January 14th // January 14th is our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration with potluck meal followed by a time of music, song, and poetry. Immediately following worship, we will begin the potluck meal in the fellowship hall. Fried chicken from Cub will be provided, and everyone is asked to bring side dish and/or desert to share. Bring enough to serve at least four, and we’ll see whose dish goes home with bragging rights for being most popular. It’s going to difficult to beat Pastor Kelly’s taco salad! Following the pot luck meal, from 2-3:30pm, we will celebrate beloved community with a program filled with song, music, and poetry. You won’t want to miss this wonderful celebration honoring the life and ministry of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Meeting & Potluck Dinner on January 28th // On January 28th, following worship we will again meet downstairs in the fellowship hall for our Annual Congregation meeting. During the annual meeting the congregation will receive the 2017 annual report and elect new church council members and Redeemer Center for Life board of directors for 2018. Following the annual meeting the celebration will continue with a meal and time for fellowship.
