2016/17 Sheridan Story Bryn Mawr Backpack Food Program
Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church in conjunction with Sheridan Story distribute weekend food bags to kids in need at Bryn Mawr Elementary School.  Weekends can be a challenging time for kids who benefit from the free breakfast and lunch the school provides during the week.  Every Friday at 11:30 am we need 4 volunteers to spend up to an hour placing food bags in student's backpacks.  The bags weigh between 3-5 pounds and are prepacked and stored on dollies that can be rolled through the school.  Our goal is to enroll 100 kids in this Friday backpack program.  We are targeting the homeless and highly mobile students at the school.  Please sign in at the school office in front (252 Upton Ave S) at 11:30 am. Then please get a nametag, a clipboard with instructions. a few spare backpacks (drawstring bags) and a list of students from the counter behind the secretary's desk.  You will have to proceed to the cafeteria to get the dollies of food boxes. When you are finished, flatten the boxes and return to the loading dock. Return clipboard and nametags to the storage box in the office.  Our contact at the school is Bethany, school social worker.  Please remember to stay in teams of two and please remember to respect the confidentiality of the program.  You will check off how many bags you deliver and return the clipboard.
