Trusting in God’s extraordinary love, let us come near to the Holy One in prayer.

*pause for reflection*

O God, you are wholeness. Where there is division in your church, bring reconciliation and healing. Guide the work of theologians, Sunday school teachers, seminary professors, and all who provide instruction for the building up of your church. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, you are the source of all life. Where creation cries out in distress, bring relief and renewal. Bless farmers, ranchers, distributors, and all who provide our food. Nourish the land and all its habitants. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, you are wisdom. Where nations and communities yearn for peace, bring justice. Strengthen those who toil for the welfare of others, especially military personnel, police, first responders, and activists, and for the healing of the nations. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, you are life. Where your people are overwhelmed with the busy-ness of life, bring encouragement. Accompany all who experience emotional, mental, or physical distress. We especially remember Claudia Runnels, recovering from surgery; Carolyn Campbell, undergoing hip surgery this coming week; Sharon Peterson, recovering from a hospitalization; Mike Murray, in cancer treatment; Mary Sue Barber, daughter of Shelby Andress, whose cancer is in remission; and Donna von Fischer, Pastor Peter’s mother-in-law, recovering from a broken hip. We pray for all who are suffering from long COVID, and other effects of the pandemic and for caregivers everywhere in their care for the sick.
We pray for the mental health of our children who need special care. Renew us at your table of mercy. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, you are our treasure. Where scarcity and anxiety pervade your church, bring abundance and vitality. Guide the work of our church council and committees and give them clarity for the work of ministry in this place, especially as we prepare to welcome Pastor Jen Collins into ministry with us. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, you are resurrection. We give you thanks for all your saints. Inspire us by their example of faithful living to set our minds on things above and to be rich in love toward you. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Receive the prayers of your children, merciful God, and hold us forever in your steadfast love; through Jesus Christ, our holy Wisdom.
Amen.

PRAYERS of INTERCESSION

Scripture Texts:

First Reading: Genesis 18:20-32
Psalm: Psalm 138
Second Reading:
Colossians 2:6-15 [16-19]

Gospel Text: Luke 11:1-13
Trusting in God’s extraordinary love, let us come near to the Holy One in prayer:

Rooted and built up in Christ, we pray for the church. Embolden church leaders to take risks for the sake of the gospel, and equip the baptized to proclaim your extravagant love for the whole world. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Rejoicing in the works of your hands, we pray for the natural world. Make rivers and lakes, oceans and all waterways, sparkle with your radiance. Protect our water sources and strengthen those who defend them, especially water protectors in northern Minnesota. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Interceding on behalf of the vulnerable, we pray for the peoples of the world. Inspire all rulers and governing authorities with your justice. Guide the work of legislators and public officials, that they advocate for the well-being of those they serve. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Persistent in prayer, we pray for our neighbors in need. To all who have hunger, give daily bread. To all who have bread, give hunger for justice. Open us to the cries of those who suffer and heal, especially Mary Lou Williams, Claudia Runnels, and Carlos Garces who are recovering from surgeries; Bill Viebahn who now suffers with late stage lung cancer, Mike Murray who is in cancer treatment, and Shelby Andress’s daughter Mary Sue Barber whose cancer is in remission. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Abounding in thanksgiving, we pray for this congregation. Bless the prayer and fellowship ministries in this place. Call us together in times of praise and blessing, trouble and sorrow, in your holy name. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Buried with Christ in baptism and raised with him to new life, we give thanks for your saints who rest in your eternal presence. Join our voices with theirs as we sing of your great glory. God in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Receive the prayers of your children, merciful God, and hold us forever in your steadfast love; through Jesus Christ, our holy Wisdom.
Amen.

Prayers of Intercession
Scripture Readings:
Genesis 18:1-10a
Psalm 15
Colossians 1:15-28

Gospel Text:
Luke 10:38-42

United in Christ and guided by the Spirit, we pray for God’s church, Their creation, and all who are in need.

~ Pause for Reflection ~

Ever-present God, in Christ you fill all things. As your church gathers to hear your word, share your meal, and receive your blessing, teach us to welcome strangers as we have been welcomed by you. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Creating God, through Christ you made all things, visible and invisible, and you hold them all together. Teach humankind to glory in your wondrous works – from billions-years-old ancient galaxies now visible through NASA’s Webb Telescope, to the tiniest cells movies through your most microscopic creations. Teach us to love and protect all creation as ourselves, knowing all life is connected to each other through Christ. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Repairing God, through Christ you repair, restore, and reconcile all things. Command those in power to end all forms of enslavement, whether by incarceration, forced birth, or underpaid labor; to put an end to dehumanization and State-sanctioned brutality of every kind; and to honor the rights and improve the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Mediating God, through Christ you bring peace. Assure all who are worried and distracted by many things of your constant presence. Comfort those suffering in mind, body, or spirit. Sustain all who are afflicted and those who serve as caregivers. Heal all who are or have been sick or infirmed, who are suffering from long COVID and other effects of the pandemic; those suffering from mental illness; for incarcerated people suffering and longing for hope; and for caregivers everywhere in their care for the sick and mentally ill. We especially lift up Mary Lou Williams, Claudia Runnels, and Carlos Garces who are recovering from surgeries; Bill Viebahn who now suffers with late stage lung cancer, Mike Murray who is in cancer treatment, and Shelby Andress’s daughter Mary Sue Barber whose cancer is in remission. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Mysterious God, in Christ the Living Word you make yourself fully known. Inspire Redeemer to abide fully in you as we sit at the feet of Jesus. Bless the ministry of teachers, prophets, public theologians, and Bible study leaders. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Providing God, through Christ you create streams in the desert and make ways where no ways were yet seen. Prepare Pastor Jen Collins, whom we have called and you have equipped to be our pastor. Bless her as she prepares to join our community and lead us into the future you have prepared for us, and for which you have led her to us. God of grace, hear our prayer.

Resurrecting God, in Christ you brought forth the firstborn from the dead. We give thanks for the saints you have gathered at your table and now hover over us, our great cloud of witnesses. Gather us with them in your eternal glory. God of grace, hear our prayer.

God of the Cosmos, maker of every galaxy old, new, and yet to be, who sees, hears, and attends to us here: In Jesus’ name and filled with your Holy Spirit, we entrust these spoken prayers and all those in our hearts into your holy keeping.

Amen.
