We’re Updating the Church Directory!
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be creating a new, updated Church Directory! For this, we need you and your family’s photo and information, if you wish to be included. Please send an email to Amy Koopman at admin@redeemermpls.org including as much of the following information as you’re comfortable sharing: A recent family photo, your names, birthdays (we’d love to know your kids’ ages!), address, phone number, email address. If you do not have or cannot provide a family photo, feel free to grab Amy after church or stop by the church office anytime Monday - Thursday between 10am and 4pm, and she can take one for you. Songs for Sanctuary, September 16th Redeemer partner congregation Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is hosting "Songs for Sanctuary" on Friday, September 16th at 7pm, a free-will offering fundraiser to respond with beauty and support to the needs of immigrants in our midst. The event will feature a number of local artists including Redeemer's Kent Goodroad, as well members from Honduran jazz band Cienaños who are in town for the Nobel Peace Prize Forum. Come enjoy good music and support the local sanctuary and immigration reform efforts of ISAIAH, The English Learning Center, and congregations providing sanctuary across Minnesota. Families are welcome, and childcare will be available. For more information and details on where to park, visit the Facebook event page here. Goodbye, Angela Bonfiglio School After five years of dedicated service as director of Redeemer's youth programming, Angela Bonfiglio is moving on. Please join us Sunday, September 17th after worship for a reception and celebration in Angela's honor. Rally Day is September 17th! School is back in session and that means Sunday School will begin again, too! The new year of Sunday school will officially kick off on Rally Sunday, September 17th. Young people ages 4 to 10 are invited to participate in a new year of stories, games, art, and sharing God’s love with each other. Thank you to all the parents, volunteers, and young people who made Redeemer’s Family Vacation Bible School this summer a fun success! If you are interested in volunteering your time and talents to support this important ministry, please contact Helen Collins at (906) 204-0917 or at helen@redeemermpls.org. Hello, Reverend Babette Chatman! It was seventeen years ago that Babette Chatman said Yes! to a move from a life of familiarity to a rollercoaster ministry at Redeemer. On September 24th at 3:00pm, that ride will culminate in the celebration of Babette's ordination as pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are thankful that with God's help, we will be able to work alongside Redeemer, Minneapolis Synod congregations, and partners to celebrate the leadership and many gifts Babette will offer as associate pastor in Ministry. H-Cubed: Friday, September 22nd, 7:30pm September's H-Cubed event will be held at 7:30pm Friday, September 22nd at The Living Room. We'll be featuring local singer-songwriter McKenna Selissen and our very own Imani Waters as the featured visual artist. As always, we'll have free food and this all-ages, open-to-the-public event! For updates, follow H-Cubed on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We Need Your (and Your Kids’) Original Artwork & Photography We are trying something new in the upcoming weeks: Rather than using standard clip-art for our weekly bulletins we’ll be featuring congregant artwork, photography, and drawings. This is open to everyone - children, youth, adults. Please submit your artwork, photography, paintings, or drawings to admin@redeemermpls.org. We’ll do our best to use everything we get (and attribute your work accordingly)! With the changing of the seasons . . . During the changing of the seasons, there are many opportunities to serve our neighbors. Cooler days bring the need for warm clothes. Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to distribute food baskets. Christmas is a wonderful time to share gifts that demonstrate love throughout the community. They used them to make more talents; they actually doubled the amount. How could you and a Thrivent Action Team do a fundraising project to grow--maybe double or even more--the Team’s $250 seed money from Thrivent? Please contact Mary Simonson Clark at development@redeemercenter.org or 612-636-5104 for more information. Happy birthday to the bicycle! The bicycle is 200-years-old!
