Passing of John Hogan
With a heavy heart, we announcing the passing of long-time member, John Hogan. John died on the morning of Sunday, June 19th. The family is holding a private service on Friday, June 24, 2016. We are very thankful for John’s leadership at Redeemer. Prayers of comfort for Marge and their family during this time. http://www.startribune.com/obituaries/detail/141894/?fullname=john-w-hogan Graduation and Baby Shower Celebration this Sunday, June 26th After service this Sunday, we will be celebrating our high school graduates, Tyrik, Eva, Rahila, and Kyara, during fellowship. Following the graduates recognition, we will be holding a baby shower for four new additions to the Redeemer family. See attached flier for gift ideas. Summer Cookouts/Block Party Redeemer Wednesday Summer Cookouts are beginning on Wednesday, July 6th and continue through July into early August. The cookouts are from 6:00-8:00p.m. in the field behind the church (weather permitting). The summer cookouts are a time for partner churches to come together with Redeemer to reach out and invite community members to enjoy a meal together. Redeemer will be hosting the kick-off cookout on Wednesday, July 6th. Vicar Louis Last Sunday July 24th Vicar Louis Tillman’s last Sunday at Redeemer will be Sunday, July 24th. After service will be having a potluck to celebrate his time with us and wish him best of luck as he moves back to Chicago to finish his Masters of Divinity. Youth Summer Camp 2016 Redeemer Center for Life is offering 5 weeks of summer camp for children who have completed Kindergarten to 6th grade, living in North Minneapolis. The camp will run Monday through Thursday, 10:00 - 2:30 PM. Registration fee for each child is $5 per week or $15 for a whole summer of fun programming! Free lunch & snack provided. Redeemer will also be hosting a Vacation Bible School for children ages 4-10 on June 16, 17, & 18. This 3-day daytime program will run from 1-4pm and will use music, visual art, story and games to engage our youngest members in big questions about what it means to follow Jesus. If you are interested in registering your child or you would like to volunteer to share God's love with your youngest members, please contact Helen at helen@redeemercenter.org or 612-374-4139. “Friday Fire” Fish Bake and Fundraiser in honor of Fathers! We hope you can join us for this month’s Friday Fire at the community oven next week on June 17! In honor of Father’s Day and in celebration of all of the new graduates, we will be baking fish caught and donated by community and congregation members! We will also need help fileting and processing the fish before the event. All participants are asked to make a donation of $5 to support continuing oven events this summer. Harrison, Healing and Harmony: The next H-Cubed will be help on Friday, June 17th at Venture North. Change Matters at Wedge Community Co-Op for Venture North! For the month of June, Venture North is the Change Matters organization at the Wedge (2105 Lyndale Avenue South). This means that when customers shop at the Wedge, they are able to “round up” to the nearest dollar, with the remaining change going towards programing at Venture North! The event is on Monday, June 6 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at River of Life Lutheran Church. This is a great opportunity to show the Bishop how much Redeemer is invested in the neighborhood and to enjoy a great meal! Urban Vacation Bible School will be held at Augsburg College on June 14-15 for those who have completed 4th-8th grade. Registration is due as soon as possible as we have limited spots available. We will also have Summer Camp at Redeemer beginning July 5th-August 11th. We have different themes each week including art, music, science, biking, and leadership. This will be for those who have completed grades K-6. Junior high and high school students can register to be junior leaders in the program. Registration forms are located in Redeemer's main office. This Friday will be the first of the summer firings! Join us this Friday Fire, which will include a pizza dinner by the bread oven, starting at 5 pm. Stop by for neighborhood fellowship, great food, and live music from Marcus Kar and company! H-Cubed (Healing, Harmony, Harrison) Open Mic The next H-Cubed will take place on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Venture North Bike Shop with the theme “Where do we go from here?”. The featured artist will be Agape, and the featured visual artist will be Pacha Galaviz. The event is free and open to the public. |
