Today, May 19, 2017, is National Bike to Work Day!
Was your bike tuned up and ready to ride? Instead, you might need a new bike in order to take advantage of all the benefits--economical transportation, good exercise, environmental care, community engagement, etc.--biking provides. Whether you need a tune-up or a new* bike, Venture North Bike and Coffee Shop is available to meet your needs. For further information, contact 612-377-3029 or live-it@venturenorthbwc.org. *Remember to donate your old bike to Venture North’s bicycle apprentice training program! Mark your Calendars: Summer Programming at Redeemer Begins June 14th! This summer, Redeemer will once again be engaged in lots of summer programming for the church and community. Redeemer hosts STEP-UP interns, youth aged 14-21 who will be working in a variety of roles in the church, bike shop and community. Additionally, Redeemer hosts programming for younger youth on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the summer as well as VBC programming. Each Wednesday, Redeemer holds an outdoor cookout with support from our partner churches. The first cook-out will be on June 14th and will serve as a kick-off to summer at Redeemer. We hope we see you there! Here a Need, There a Need, Everywhere a Need! Redeemer’s summer programs are about to start. They bring many important opportunities. They also bring needs. There are educational needs for youth field trips. There are service needs for community cook-outs. There are fundraiser needs for larger projects. Did you know Thrivent Action Teams can help meet all of these needs? Even if you are not a Thrivent member, you can become an Associate Member and apply for a Thrivent Action Team to receive $250 to help meet these needs and many more. Please contact Mary Simonson Clark at development@redeemercenter.org or 612-636-5104 for Action Team ideas or assistance. Help Get the Word Out The Youth Staff team at Redeemer is looking for volunteers from the church to help get the word out about our summer programming. We will be walking the neighborhood and knocking on doors on May 22nd and 29th from 3:00-5:00pm. If you are interested in helping out, please sign up HERE, or contact angela@redeemermpls.org. H-Cubed: Friday, May 19th H-cubed stands for Harrison, Healing and Harmony. H-cubed is a monthly community space where we share art, poetry, music, and conversation around systemic issues. This month’s H-Cubed, “Grounded and Growing” will be on May 19th. As always, a sign-up sheet to perform or speak will be available at the event for those wanting to share - poetry, music, dance, art, or just speak what's on your mind. Food and refreshments will be served! The event will begin at 7:30pm and go until 10:00pm in the Living Room (1716 Glenwood Ave). All are welcome, come and go as you are able! Support the Youth Programs! Would you like to find a way to support the youth program? Are you interested in providing a meal? We are looking for people who are willing to provide or cook a meal for our youth as the come to Redeemer. If you are interested, please select the date you would like to in the doodle below. Day options on Tuesdays will be at Redeemer. Any other days could be at Redeemer or hosted in your home. Please contact Angela with any questions. For now the calendar goes from March - May. http://doodle.com/poll/s75actz4gr3we53s Comments are closed.
